The Dos and Don’ts of Dieting for a Fitter and Healthier You
You have heard that weight loss camps help you lose as much as twelve pounds of excess fat, gain more self-confidence, and make you a better person. Plus, the environment and accommodation is great! So, you decide to enlist because you want to look slimmer.
This is a very good idea, especially if you are really determined to accomplish your goals. As a reminder though, it is not enough to just join a health boot camp, shed off extra pounds, and then, simply go back to your old habits after a few weeks. If you want to stay fit and healthy, you should consider the following tips once you get out of the facility.
- Dos
1. Control your calorie intake – Plenty of diet programs and trends tell you that you can lose extra fat in a matter of months or even weeks. But, no matter which regimen you follow, it will not work effectively if you eat food that are rich in calories. Therefore, you should only have at least 1,500 calories daily. Since the recommended amount depends on your body mass index, consult this matter with your doctor during one of your medical check-ups.
2. Eat vegetables – Most varieties, (e.g. bean sprouts, carrots, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, cucumber, beet, and kale) contain high fibre and low calorie content, keeping you satiated without taking in too much. Apart from helping in regulating your appetite, plenty of veggies are rich in antioxidants, which battle toxins and enhance your immune system. Finally, they boost your energy level and (some) slow down ageing.
- Don’ts
1. Eat too little – Who says that dieting means that you need to consume only morsels of food? Well, that is just not true. Instead of improving your well-being, eating too little or none at all will only make you moody, tired, and unhappy.
2. Be too hard on yourself – If your nutritionist tells you to stick to healthy food choices, it does not mean that you should only have fruits and vegetables for the rest of your existence. Of course, treat yourself to a piece of dark chocolate or any sweet treat twice a week at most. But do not forget to count the calories so you can limit your intake.
These are only four tips to help you maintain a good diet. You can check out more ideas by reading the other articles on this blog.
